YOU’RE A BUFFER HERE: EMISSION by Fumitsugu Takedo

Witness the Tension Between Creation and Disappearance in Visual Form.

Fumitsugu Takedo is a photographer whose work explores the porous boundary between reality and fantasy, presenting a visual experience that unfolds across multiple media.

He began his career determined to share as many of his photographs as possible; since 2024, he has broadened his practice to include video.

His new exhibition, “YOU’RE A BUFFER HERE: EMISSION,” is an expanded version of “You’re a Buffer Here,” which first opened in March 2025.  It brings together both photographic and video works to deepen the ideas first introduced in the original show.

Takedo’s practice ranges from high-speed, sliding street snaps and atmospheric video sequences of urban environments to layered appropriations of vintage film footage.  Together, these pieces evoke the looping interplay between consciousness and the unconscious, and the slender, shifting membrane between the real and the imagined.

For both his prints and his monthly artist’s booklet, he chooses very thin, inexpensive paper—ideal for mass production and rapid test prints.  This material invites a “guilt-free” overproduction mindset: errors and misprints accumulate without waste, mirroring the ephemeral glow of images on a screen.

In “EMISSION,” photographs and videos cycle through processes of creation and erasure, inviting viewers to witness—and even participate in—the ongoing mediation of these transient images.
